Soltera/Single Suckage

Of course I know what tomorrow is!! It is a made up holiday so that we consume consume consume flowers, chocolates, panties, stuffed animals , jewelry and a whole mess of things that we don't need. So why when I crawled into bed last night was I thinking about how there will be no cards for me, no flowers for me, damnit even moving that past that materialistic shit, there will be no other person (or persons) to say: Mala you are so fucking hot and smart and I am madly in love with you. Step up people. ha ha. I'm beginning to think romantic love is highly overrated.

there are lots of fabulous women who will be spending tomorrow without any "romantic" love interests. so don't sweat it.

but for the record, mala, you are fucking hot and smart.

I know . Sometimes it's just so hard though especially with even complete strangers asking, "And who is you valentine". I wish I had a snarky ass answer.

Oh and thank you

Happy Valentine's Mala. I'll be doing without the romantic stuff too, as every year. But its not so bad. I'm thinking Ren & Stimpy might fix everything. :)

I guess I'm pretty fortunate to come from a family that didn't celebrate any holidays other than my parent's anniversary and the end of each school semester. That means, I have managed to go through exactly 29 Valentine's Days without once buying into the (commercial) spirit of the event. It's nice to have people show that they are thinking of you but cards and calls have always meant more to me when they came on the un-holiday-days.

I'm a mami too and I've decided to follow my family's tradition and forego teaching my daughter to celebrate them too. Besides, having self-love beats waiting on tree-killing cards and chalky processed sugar treats any day; That's a lesson you can never start too early, I think. ;o)
